Bio

Medical Marker for her at St. Mary's Cemetery as she donated her body to science. Martha Julia Pohl entered the Notre Dame Sisters community on May 24, 1921 and on August 15, 1924 as a novice she received the name of Sister Gerard. Sister Gerard taught every grade from kindergarten through eighth grade. She was a principal for 26 years. Eighteen years as a religious were spent in Dodge Nebraska. She taught at six parochial schools in Nebraska in Our Lady of Lourdes mission in Porcupine, South Dakota.
