KOBZA WAS LONG IDENTIFIED WITH DWIGHT CHURCH Dwight, Feb. 9 – Funeral services were held in Assumption Catholic church February 4 for Joseph J. Kobza, who died at his home three hours after he suffered an attack of coronary thrombosis. Msgr. Mlijnek, assisted by the Rev. Clarence Reisdorff conducted the services. Six nephews, John, Joseph and James Kobza, Joseph Novacek and Joseph and David Shonka served as pallbearers. Mr. Kobza had been a resident of east Butler county his entire life. He was born at Abie February 26, 1880, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Kobza. Following his marriage to Stazie Ann Shonka January 27, 1903, he lived on a farm near Ulysses. Later he and Mrs. Kobza retired since which time they lived in Dwight. Mrs. Kobza survives him, as do three sons, Sylvester and Frank of Ulysses, and Dr. Valerian Kobza of Omaha; two daughters, Mrs. William Bartek of Lincoln and Mrs. Joseph Makovicka of Ulysses; 17 grand children; two sisters, Mrs. James Wittera and Mrs. Frances Novacek; and three brothers, James, Fred and Charles Kobza. A son, Joseph, died in 1922. A life-time believer in the Catholic faith, he held membership in Assumption church at time of his death. He was actively identified with the church, having served as trustee 18 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society also. Besides members of his family who came from away to attend the funeral services were: Mrs. L. Trojan of Ogallala; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kobza, Mrs. Ed Czech, James Svoboda and Frank Oborny, of Schuyler; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Masek of Abie; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Shonka of Bellwood; and Francis Adamy of Shelby.
