Born in house #17, village of Príložany, South Moravia, Czech Republic, the son of Johan Kobza and wife Marianna (daughter of Anton Slama). Immigrated to the United States with his wife, children, and his wife's parents in 1879. The passenger list for the ship Strassburg which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on April 26, 1879 includes the following family, origin Austria, destination Nebraska: Johann Losipa, age 66 years, farmer; Therisia Losipa, 71; Wenzel Kbbza, 42, farmer; Franzisca, 38; Johann, 17; Alois, 15; Franzisca, 13; Franz, 9; Carl, 5; and Ferdinand, 11 months. Settled in Linwood precinct, Butler County, Nebr. where Vaclav Kobza, farmer, age 45 years, born Moravia, is listed on the 1880 census with his wife, four children, and his wife's parents. According to his probate file he was a resident of Linwood precinct and died May 28, 1897 (Butler County probate file #1831).
