Bio

Immigrated to the United States with her husband, children, and her parents in 1879. The passenger list for the ship Strassburg which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on April 26, 1879 includes the following family, origin Austria, destination Nebraska: Johann Losipa, age 66 years, farmer; Therisia Losipa, 71; Wenzel Kbbza, 42, farmer; Franzisca, 38; Johann, 17; Alois, 15; Franzisca, 13; Franz, 9; Carl, 5; and Ferdinand, 11 months. The 1880 census shows the family in Linwood precinct, Butler County, Nebr. (all born Moravia except Joseph who was born in Nebr.): Vaclav Kobza, farmer, age 45 years; Fannie, 38; Frank, 11; Charlie, 6; Frederich, 3; Joseph, born February; John Vocepa, 67; and Theresa Vocepa, 70. According to the 1900 census she was a widow, born July 1841 in Moravia, mother of 10 children, 9 living, and farmed in Linwood precinct with her children Charles (October 1874, Moravia), Vaclav (July 1883, Nebr.), and Mary (January 1886, Nebr.). ''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), May 17, 1923, p. 3, col. 1 BRUNO Mrs. Frances Kobza died Monday morning at two o'clock at the home of her son-in-law, James Wittera. Mrs. Kobza was 82 years of age at the time of her death, and had been an invalid for many years, the past three of which were spent with the Wittera family. The funeral took place Wednesday morning from the Catholic church, with interment in the Catholic cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved.
