Ether first married E. E. Cotton on March 7, 1915, in Polk County, Texas. This marriage later ended in divorce. Ether married Joe Eckersley on Feb. 9, 1946, in Houston, Texas. ********************************************************************************** OBITUARY FROM THE POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE, Nov. 27, 1980 Ether Eckersley LIVINGSTON--Funeral services for Ether Juanita Eckersley, 89, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, from the Chapel of Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kyle officiating. Interment followed in the Menard Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ata Bassa, Al Handen, Phillip Graves, Rev. Darrell Brown, E. L. Frazar, Ted Griffin and A. L. Hendrix. Mrs. Eckersley was born the daughter of Radford and Dorcas Smith Griffin. A native of Polk County, she was born and reared at Knight. She attended the then available public schools. She lived in Houston for several years. She had made Port Neches her home for the past two years. Mrs. Eckersley was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Evelyn Newman of Port Neches; one brother, Boyd Griffin of Porter; one sister, Emma HIlton of Porter; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
