Bio

Emma was the daughter of Radford Ellis Griffin and Dorcas Elvira "Missie" Smith Griffin. She married Robert Lee Mize on Aug. 10, 1921, in Houston, Tx. They were the parents of two sons. After the death of Robert Mize in 1944, Emma married Otis Millard Hilton on July 3, 1951. OBITUARY FROM THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE: HILTON EMMA GRIFFIN MIZE HILTON, born in Polk County in 1898, a former resident of Houston and more recently of Porter, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 1988. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Joy Mize and son, Robert (Bud) Mize; grandchildren: Jerie Gerlich Martin, Joni McCoy, Janie Glos, Melanie Landig, Marcie Mize and Mark Mize; also great-grandchildren: Casey Gerlich, Cari and Carly McCoy, Derek Luedeke, Logan and Summer Landig; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Heights Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, July 21, 1988, at 11:00 a.m. with Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening. *********************************************************************************** Emma Griffin Mize Hilton was preceded in death by her parents, Radford E. Griffin and Dorcas E. "Missie" Smith Griffin; her first husband, Robert Mize; her second husband, Otis Hilton; her daughter-in-law, Lois Mize; her brother, Boyd Griffin; and her sisters, Exer Walters, Barbara Collins, Ether Cotten Eckersley, Willie Griffin and Elva Collins.
