Bio

Hurley T. Ard Funeral services for Hurley T. Ard, 61 of Silverhill, were held on Dec. 19 from the First Baptist Church in Loxley with Rev. B. B. Burkes officiating. Internment followed in the Hinote Cemetery. Employed by South Baldwin Mills, he was a native of Baldwin County and passed away suddenly at work on Dec. 16. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Lee Ard of Silverhill; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Jane Davis of Loxley, Mrs. Betty Swartzwelder of Robertsdale, Mrs. Gloria Swoboda of Brewton and Miss Gay Nell Ard of Mobile; five sons, Clarence of Daphne, Jerry and Robert of Silverhill, Jack of Robertsdale and Allen Ray in the U.S. Navy; two sisters, Mrs. Alto Boyington of Robertsdale, and Mrs. Mildred Carter of Chicago; four brothers, Alvin of Waynesboro, Miss., Curtiss of Weirton, West Va., Arthur and Herman, both of Robertsdale; and 16 grandchildren. Pallbearers include Pap Murphy, Sam Callaway, Norman Kelly, William J. Campbell, Thomas Lindher and Harvey Hulbert. Mack Funeral Home of Robertsdale was in charge of arrangements.
