Clarence “B.O.” Ard October 6, 1929 – October 7, 2015 Clarence “ B.O.” Ard, 86, a longtime resident of Daphne, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at home with his family by his side. For many years, he was a well respected umpire for little league baseball all over the Eastern Shore. He was an avid reader, helping establish the Daphne Public Library. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor until his retirement at Villa Mercy and then, also known as Mercy Medical. Throughout his life he loved working in his garden, growing some of the finest vegetables you could ever imagine and sharing them with many. He touched so many lives and will always be known as a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family was his passion. He is predeceased by his son, Daniel Ard and daughter Winnie Fay Ard. Surviving is his wife of sixty four years, LaVonne L. Ard; two daughters, Barbara (Sidney) Foster, Daphne and Kathy (Keith) Kingan, Mobile; two sons, Calvin Ard, Mobile and Charlie (Deon) Ard, Iowa; six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne from 5:00 until 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in his honor may be made to the Daphne Public Library, P.O. Box 1225, Daphne, AL, 36526. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.
