The Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Saturday, June 10, 1972, page 14: Mrs. Promes Rites Monday HARTINGTON -- Mrs. Mary A. Promes, 79, of Hartington died Friday at the Osmond hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Bow Valley, near Hartington. The Rev. Charles Knippen will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vernon Sudbeck, Ray Schott, Allen Fuchs, Wilfred Ronspies, Allen Sudbeck and Werner Burbach. The body will lie in state from 3 to 9 pm Sunday at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington where the rosary will be recited at 8 pm Sunday. Born December 18, 1892 at Pierce, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Florian Fuchs. On October 6, 1926 she married John Promes at Pierce. He died in July 1965. All her married life was spent in the Hartington area. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Altar Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Leonard F. (Rosella) Uhing of Hartington, and five sisters, Mrs. R. B. Ronspies of Pierce, Nebraska, Mrs. Monica Schott of Osceola, Nebraska, Mrs. George Hahn of Petersburg, Nebraska, Mrs. Quinten Clark of San Jose, California and Mrs. William Haschke of Hollywood, California. Mary Fuchs was born December 18, 1892 at Pierce to Mr. and Mr. Florian Fuchs. Until her marriage on October 6, 1926 to John Promes she had resided in the Pierce area. After her marriage she and her husband lived near Hartington. Mr. Promes passed away in July 1965. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Altar Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Leonard F. (Rosella) Uhling of Hartington, and five sisters, Mrs. Julia Ronspies, Pierce; Mrs. Elisabeth Hahn, Albion; Mrs. Monica Schott, Osceola; Mrs. Ceil Clark, San Jose, California and Mrs. Ann Haschke, Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Frank, John, Florian and Mike, and two sisters, Johanna and Frances.
