Sudbeck Dies; Services Will Be Friday HARTINGTON--Funeral services for Mrs. Herman (Johanna) Sudbeck , 70, of Hartington, formerly of Pierce, will be held at 10:30 am Friday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Hartington. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at Hartington. The body will lie in state from 3 to 9 pm Thursday at the Smith-Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington where rosaries will be recited at 7:30 pm Thursday for Christian Mothers and at 8 pm for the parish. Johanna Sudbeck , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Florian Fuchs, was born December 7, 1899 at Pierce County, Nebraska. She died Tuesday morning at her home in Hartington. She had recently been hospitalized at Yankton. On October 19, 1926 she married Herman Sudbeck at Pierce. They made their home in the Hartington community since that time. Survivors include her widower, Herman of Hartington; two sons, Vernon and Lajoy, both of Hartington; seven grandchildren; and seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Promes of Wynot, Nebraska, Mrs. R. B. Ronspies of Pierce, Nebraska, Mrs. George Hahn of Albion, Nebraska, Mrs.Monica Schott of Osceola, Nebraska, Mr. Bill Haschke of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Frances Moss of Monterey Park, California, and Mrs. Quentin Clark of San Jose, California. Mrs. Sudbeck is the former Johanna Fuchs , daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Florian Fuchs and a sister of Mrs. R. B. Ronspies, Pierce. Mrs. Sudbeck was born and raised near Pierce. Funeral services for Mrs. Herman (Johanna) Sudbeck, Hartington, were held last Friday morning at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. Father J. Mikch officiated a the Requiem High Mass. The Mass was sung by the children's choir and the congregation. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery at Hartington with Allen Fuchs, Ray Schott, Wilfred Ronspies, James Stappert, Allen Sudbeck and Donavon Sudbeck as pallbearers. Mothers were honorary bearers. She had recently been hospitalized at Yankton. October 19, 1926 she was married to Herman Sudbeck at St. Joseph's Church in Pierce by Rev. Theo. Mester. After their marriage they farmed in the Hartington area. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Vernon and Lajoy, Hartington; seven grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Promes of Hartington, Mrs. Reinhard (Julia) Ronspies of Pierce, Mrs. George (Elisabeth) Hahn of Albion, Mrs. Monica Schott of Osceola, Mrs. William (Ann) Haschke of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Frances Moss of Monterey Park, California and Mrs. Quentin (Ceil) Clark of San Jose, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Mike in 1968, John in 1946, Florian and Frank in infancy.
