Obituary in The Princeville Telephone, 18 July 1957: "Services for Stephen Streitmatter Are Held Wednesday --- Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Stephen Streitmatter at 9 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Camp Grove with Rev. Harold Prendergast officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Streitmatter, Richard Streitmatter, Arthur O'Brien, Lawrence O'Brien, Ralph Gries, and Conrad Bogner. Stephen Streitmatter was born June 3, 1904 in Princeville, the son of Fred and Mary Zehr Streitmatter, and died unexpectedly Monday morning at 3 o'clock in his home in Steuben township in Marshall county near Sparland. He was aprominent farmer in that area, a member of St. Patrick's church, a member of the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau and took a great interest in 4-H club work and all agricultural activities. Mr. Streitmatter was united in marriage to Miss Evelyn O'Brien February 14, 1928 in Camp Grove and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Marilyn and Mauritta of Peoria, and Doreen, at home; a son Paul who resides nearby; two brothers, Fred of Wyoming and Richard of Rensselaer, Ind; and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Belcner of Peoria, Mrs. Donna Fritz of Wyoming, Mrs. Olivia Woods of Rensselaer, Ind., and Mrs. Mae VanSeger of San Diego, Calif. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Delbert, 19, who died in 1949; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Kruse and Miss Maude Streitmatter; and three brothers, Frank, who died in 1956, Pierce and Clark."
