Bio

Paul Joseph Streitmatter, 75, of rural Sparland passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was born on April 6, 1935, in LaPrairie Township, son of the late Stephen and Mary Evelyn (O'Brien) Streitmatter. He married Wanda Moline on Oct. 27, 1956, in Lacon, Ill. She survives. He is also survived by daughters, Debora Breen of Chillicothe and Donna (Mike) Palkovic of Peoria; sons, Steve (Melissa) Streitmatter of Heyworth, Dave (Ann) Streitmatter of Sparland, Larry Streitmatter of Sparland and Jerry (Renee) Streitmatter of Sparland; and sister, Mauritta "Mert" Berlett of Creve Coeur. He was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Streitmatter, and two sisters, Marilyn Brecklin and Doreen Hofer Johnson. Paul served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a farmer in rural Sparland for all his life. He served as a supervisor of Steuben Township for 15 years, and was a member of the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in rural Camp Grove. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Lacon American Legion Post 593. Full obit in the Peoria Journal Star - January 6, 2011.
