Jessie Joseph Smith, 72-yr. old Batchelor, La. resident, died at his residence Saturday. He was a native of Marksville. He was a member of a well-known family. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Smith, Batchelor; two sons, Pete Smith, Alexandria and Jessie C. Smith, Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. Rita Munson and Mrs. Irene Munson, Baton Rouge and Mrs. Erline Savant, Metairie, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Barney, Alexandria and Mrs. Annie Barnett, Marksville; two brothers, Robert Smith and Eddie Smith, Alexandria; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body lay in repose at the Niland Funeral Home in New Roads, with funeral services being conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville at 3 p.m. Sunday, and burial in the church cemetery.
