Bio

Mrs. Irene Dauzat wife of Walter Dauzat, of this city died in New Orleans, on Friday, April 20, 1928 at 8 o'clock p.m. Her body was brought here Saturday and taken to the residence of Lester Dauzat, 630 Second Street. The funeral took place this morning, the procession leaving the residence at 9 a.m., and going to St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral, where services were condurcted, after which Interment took place in Rapides Cemetery, under the direction of John Kramer and Sons, undertakers. Besides her husband, deceased leaves one young daughter, Ella May Dauzat, and the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Q.M. Barnidge, Mrs. Wickly Dauzat, Mrs. D. Carter, Robert, Denny, Jessie, Eddie and Jimmie Smith. The following were pallbearers: Denny Smith, Q.M. Barnidge, Clifton Dauzat, Mike Mule, L. Laschney and W.A. Mathews. Godparents: Ferrier Bordelon & Armentine Couvillion. (St Francis de Sales Catholic Baptismal Records: Book 1, Page 8, Record 29) Irene and her sister Della are living with their maternal grandmother Colombè Dupuis Couvillion on the 1900 census record.
