Herald Coaster, August 12, 1996: Funeral services for Frances Jane Nawara, 88, were to be held Monday, Aug. 12, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, with the Rev. George Kuebler officiating. Buril will be in Needville Public Cemetery. Mrs. Nawara passed away Friday at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital. She was born June 24, 1908 in Rogers, Texas to Joe and Annie Mazac. In 1909, the family moved to the Damon community, residing there until the late 1930's when the family moved to the Fairchilds community. She lived there until residing in the Fort Bend Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John W. Nawara, and her parents, Joe and Annie Struska Mazac; and her three sisters, Albina Kaluza, Tracy Nawara, and Mary Nawara. Also her brother, John Mazac. She was a homemaker and served her community in many voluntary programs, one as an observer in the local observation post during World War II. She was active in Red Cross drives, cancer drives, and other fundraisers. She was also a leader for the girls 4-H Club and active in the Home Demonstration Club and Immanuel UCC Ladies Aid. Her survivors are her two sons, Alton Roy Nawara and wife, Sophie, of Rosenberg, John W. Nawara Jr. and wife, Bonnae, of Houston; three grandsons, Paul D. Nawara and wife, Joi, Weldon R. Nawara and wife, Kim, and Thomas W. Nawara; five granddaughters, Donna Ruth Plummer and husband, Charles, Kathryn Powers and husband, Jerry, Eva Nawara, Joyce Long, and Jewel Schexander; two great-grandsons, Joshua Plummer and Brian Pace; and 10 great-granddaughters, Kimberly, Robyn, Krystle, Mandy, Cassie, Brandie, and Ashlie Nawara, Erin Plummer, Crystle Pace, and Laura Pace. Pallbearers will be Rodney Senbara, Cary Kaluza, John Henry Nawara, Kenneth Nawara, Nelson Nawara, and Leonard Nawara. The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Needville (409-793-4514) are in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Sunday at the Garmany & Carden Chapel in Needville.
