Bio
Fort Bend Herald, March 15, 2009: Alton Roy Nawara, 81, of Rosenberg, was called home by his Heavenly Father on March 13, 2009. Alton was born October 23, 1927 in Fort Bend County to John Nawara and Frances M. Nawara. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in Germany during WWII. As a member of First Assembly of God in Rosenberg, he drove a Sunday school bus for many years becoming a spiritual father for many children. He was a member of American Legion Post 271, the Rosenberg Taxpayers Association and was a board member for Needville Public Cemetery. He enjoyed visiting with people, sincerely caring about their lives and helping those in need. Alton is preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Nawara. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sophie Nawara; children, Paul Nawara and wife, Joy, Weldon Nawara and wife, Kim, Donna Plummer and husband, Charles, Jewel Schexander, and Joyce Schexander-Long; brother, J. W. Nawara and wife, Bonnae; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with other family members and many friends. Funeral services for Alton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with interment following at Needville Public Cemetery in Needville. Rev. Deborah Prihoda will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
