Bio

Died 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 1984, at her residence. She was 88, a native of Liberty, Miss. and longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 10 a.m. to religious services at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Perry F. Webb. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. A.H. (Dot) Purcell and Mrs. E.L. (Cissy) McDonald, both of Baton Rouge; a son, William H. Adams, Dayton, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Janie Jones, Baton Rouge, Mrs. Helen Robeau, New Orleans, and Mrs. J.A. Crawford, Austin, Texas; a brother, T.L. McGehee, Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Dr. A.H. Purcell, Oakland, Calif., David Purcell, Tulsa, Okla., Anne McDonald Guidry, Jackson, Miss., Bill and W.H. McDonald, both of Baton Rouge, and Deborah Adams Cooper, New Orleans; 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. A.H. Purcell, David Purcell, Bill McDonald, W.H. McDonald, Dr. Robert Cooper, and Dr. Fred Guidry. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Heirome Gaines Chapter of DAR, Henry Watkins Chapter of UDC, American Legion Auxiliary, Federation Club of 6th District, The Huguenot Society, Monday Morning Book Club. She was organizer of the Navy Mother's Club, Baton Rouge, and the Magna Charter Dames of the State Division of Louisiana.
