Bio
Died 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1989, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 89, a native and resident of Liberty, Miss., and former resident of Baton Rouge and Zachary. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home Guardian Chapel, 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Religious services at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Ratcliff. Visiting at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Liberty, noon Friday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. David Fortenberry and the Rev. Woody Rimes. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by a daughter, Robbie J. Yaun, Baton Rouge; a son, A.W. Jones Jr., Liberty; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Robeau, New Orleans; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, A.W. Jones Sr. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church; past regent of Heirome Gaines Chapter of DAR, past officer of Henry Watkins Allen of UDC, past matron of Hope Villa Chapter of OES, member of Eunice Chapter of OES, past officer of Grand Chapter of OES, and served as hostess of First Baptist Church of Zachary. Published in The State-Times (Baton Rouge, LA), October 19, 1989 Note: Both Mrs. Jones' obituary and her SSDI record give Oct. 18, 1989 as her death date. Her grave marker gives Oct. 17.
