Del Norte Prospector dated Nov. 21, 1947 Funeral services were held Sunday at the Episcopal Church for Mrs. Naiphie Saidy Allam, resident of Del Norte for the past 45 years. Rev. Robert Whiting officiated. Mrs. Allam passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Thursday evening last week. She had been in poor health for the past half dozen years and critically ill several occasions before her death. She was born December 4, 1883, at Beirut, Syria, and came to the United States in 1901. On August 15, 1902, in Denver, she was married to Thomas G. Allam, and then came to Del Norte immediately. Together they established their little home in this community, raised their family of five children and engaged in business down thru the past nearly half-century. For years during their active lives, Mr. and Mrs. Allam were closely identified with the business and civic life of the community. Mr. Allam died May 22, 1938. Following his death, Mrs. Allam’s health began to fail, but she maintained her place as the head of the family and exerted her energies, her good judgment, motherly love and influence and sound advice in family counsel almost to the last of her days. During her failing years an ever-attentive group of children reciprocated the love and care for their mother which she had given them when youngsters. She is survived by five children, George T., John T., Mrs. E. J. Graham, Miss Ruby, all of Del Norte; Mrs. Ben L. Prosch, of Chicago, Illinois, and two grandchildren. ~Courtesy of Rosalind Weaver ================================== aka Effie Allam, aka Maxine Allam, aka Amelia Allam ========================= Barbara Cullings Posted: 24 Feb 1999 on Rootsweb Message Board Naiphie Saidy was born 4 DEC 1883 in Fourzol, Lebanon and emigrated to the United States in the late 1800's.
