Argent Railey moved to Caldwell Parish from the Whynot area of Lauderdale County, Miss. around 1895. Her daughter Onie Gregory related in Ted Woods' book CALDWELL PARISH IN SLICES that they came here when she was 7 years old. Argent's parents, maternal grandmother and a couple of her sons, and most of her brothers and sisters all relocated, except for her brother Marshall Hulon Butler , who remained in Jones County, Miss. Her brother, Wm Baldwin Butler , later relocated to the Epps area of West Carroll Parish. LOCAL WOMAN DIED TUESDAY Funeral services for Mrs. W. J. Railey, 73, who died on Tuesday night at 11:10 o'clock were held the following day-- Wednesday, August 3 at 3 o'clock. Mrs. Railey is survived by the following seven children, Mrs. S. {Mary Onie} Gregory, Mrs Erma O'Quinn, Mrs. Ruth McGrew, Mrs {Ava} Harry McCollum {Mitchell}, Mrs Alice Phares {Farmer}, J. E. { John Everett }Railey, and Clarence Railey. She is also survived by three brothers, T. M. {Marion Tilden} Butler and Armster {Thomas Armstrong} Butler of this parish, Holden {sic - Hulon) Butler of Meridian, Miss; one sister, Mrs {Tressie} Cole of this parish, and a host of grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Guy F. Winstead, pastor of the Columbia Baptist Church, and Rev. J. W. Lee, Grayson. Interment was made in the Palestine {Baptist Church-Vixen) cemetery in ward five, the funeral being under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Caldwell Herald Friday, Aug 5, 1939
