Greenville (Texas) Herald Banner, Thu, 28 Jul 1960, page A2, Services Saturday For Mrs. Shields Mrs. W.F. (Dora) Shields died Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. in Chula Vista, California. She resided at 2804 St. John street, Greenville and had been visiting in California for about one month. Born February 27, 1881 in Campbell she was the daughter of Doc and Susan Hacker Bolton. She had lived most of her life in and near Greenville. She was married to W.F. Shields in 1901. A member of the White Rock Baptist Church for the past 40 years she had been very active in its work as long as her health had permitted. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the White Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Milner, Rev. C.B. Fielder and Rev. Fred Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Tidwell Cemetery. Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will arrive in Greenville Thursday evening and rest at the funeral home until hour of service. Nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Opal Turner, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Arlo Shrader, Arvin, Calif., Mrs. J.C. Cody, National City, Calif., Mrs. Vernon Green, White Rock, Mrs. Paul Liford, Lakewood, Calif.; three sons, Weldon Shields and Guy Shields of Greenville, Wayne Shields of Dallas; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, Roy Bolton, Lee Bolton and Ellie Bolton, and one sister, Ethel Vansickle. Cody in National City, Calif., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Church in the White Rock Community. The Rev. Grady Milner, Rev. C.B. Fielder, and the Rev. Fred Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Tidwell Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons and include Bobby White, Billy Green, Kenneth Shields, Bobby Harwell, Paschell Bolton, and Herman Vansickle.
