Burial will be in National City, Calif. Mrs. Cody was born April 13, 1906 to Willie F. and Dora Bolton Shields in the Merrick Community. She married J.C. Cody of White Rock and lived in Greenville until 1941 before moving to California. Survivors include her husband of National City, Calif.; daughters, Jerry Faye Birdsong and Annie Joyce Junker, both of California; brothers, Weldon and Guy Shields of Greenville, and Wayne Shields of Hurst; sisters, Bernice Green of White Rock, Opal Turner of Hurst, and Stella Blaylock, Atlanta, Tx.; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Ruby Frair of Arvin, Calif.
