Greenville (Texas) Herald Banner, Mon, 6 Jan 2003, page A2, Obituaries, Wayne Shields IRVING - Wayne Franklin Shields, 91, of Carrollton died Saturday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shields was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Roosevelt County of the New Mexico Territory; the son of Willie Franklin and Dora Bolton Shields. He was a farmer and retired from Corrigan Properties in 1979 after 35 years of service. He was a deacon in the Baptist church. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara White of Whitney; sons, Kenneth Shields of Tucson, Ariz. and Jerry Shields of Watauga; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Guy Shields, of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Nona Frances Gibbs Shields, in 2001; five sisters and one brother. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
