Bio

James Franklin [Frank] Burk was born 6 April 1861 in Ellis County, Texas. He was 3rd of the 6 children born to James Marion Burk (1833-1900) and Susan Catharine Phillips Burk (1834-1914). Siblings: Mary Jane Burk Wright (1855-1938), Sarah A. Burk (1858-____), William Marion Burk (1870-1941), Robert [Bob] Perry Burk (1874-1944) and Samuel Houston Burk (1875-1930). He was married to Nannie Luisa Maxey (1861-1907) in 1879 or 1880. They were the parents of Mandy Maud Burk [Hefley] (1884-1967) and Vada Catharine Burk 1888-?). In May of 1931 Frank contracted influenza and his health rapidly declined until he suffered a heart attack and died on 15 June 1931 in Ferris, Ellis County, Texas, USA. He was laid to rest 16 June 1931 in the Bristol Cemetery in Ellis County Texas.
