Bio
James Marion Burk was born 2 June 1833, the son of the Reverend John Burk and Mary Martha Brewster. He married Susan Catherine Phillips about 1854 in Tennessee. They were the parents of Mary Jane Burk [Wright] (1855-1939), Sarah A. Burk (1858-?), James Franklin Burk (1861-1931), William Marion Burk (1870-1941), Robert [Bob] Perry Burk (1874-1944), Samuel Houston Burk (1875-1930) and Thomas Jefferson Burk (1880-1960). James married Susan Catherine Phillips about 1854 in Tennessee. James and Susan moved from Tennessee to Texas around 1859. The 1860 Census Record shows James and Susan living in Texas with their 2 daughters, Mary Jane and Sarah A. James died 9 July 1900 in Bristol, Texas. Note: James donated the land for the original Bristol Cemetery in which he is buried.
