Bio

Mary Jane Burk was born 14 October 1855 in Tennessee. She was the oldest of the children born to James Marion Burk(1833-1900) and Susan Catharine Phillips Burk (1834-1914). Siblings: Sarah A. Burk (1858-), James Franklin Burk (1861-1931), William Marion Burk (1870-1941), Robert [Bob] Perry Burk (1874-1944) and Samuel Houston Burk (1875-1930). She was the 2nd wife of Lorenzo Dow Wright (1845-1922) and they were married in Bristol, Ellis, Texas on 14 June 1892, Lorenzo's first wife Mary Lewis Wright had passed away in March of 1892 so Mary Jane became the mother to Lorenzo's four children; Edward Lewis Wright, Cora Susan Wright, Vinnie Lela Wright and Maggie Wright. Mary Jane and Lorenzo were the parents of Ida Lorena Wright (1893–1895), Lorenzo Dow Wright Jr. (1895–1971) and Linus Dewey Wright (1899–1976). Mary Jane died 25 May 1938 at the age of 82 years in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. Cause of death was Chronic Nephritis. She was laid to rest in the Bristol Cemetery in Bristol, Ellis, Texas.
