THE GETTYSBURG COMPILER April 15, 1944 Mrs. Charity Kuykendall, 54, wife of Oliver Kuykendall, Gettysburg R5, and mother of 14 children, five of whom are serving with the US Army, died at the Warner hospital at 11:15 Friday evening of complications. She had been admitted to the hospital about a week ago and had been in for two weeks. Born in Moorefield, West Virginia, she moved to Adams county in 1923. She was a member of the Pentacost church. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. S. J. Bobo, Biglerville R1, Robert W., Columbus, Ohio; Pvt. Bernard V., with the US Army in Texas; Harry S., York Springs R2; Roy H., Gettysburg R4; Mrs. Calvin Killinger, Carlisle R1; Pvt. Oliver W., with the US Army in Italy; Pvt. Carl H., US Army, Randolph Field, Texas; Pvt. Herman, US Army, South Carolina; Pvt Charles W., US Army, Arkansas; Blaine, Sarah Earl and James J at home. ?? Sisters and two brothers and 25 grandchildren also survive. The brothers and sisters are: James W Pope, Spencer, North Carolina; Albert L Pope, Panama; Mrs. Emma Bucklue, Cumberland, Maryland; Mrs. Abner Hosse, Moorefield, West Virginia; Mrs. Le?? Bean, Cumberland, Maryland; Mrs. Robert Baldwin, Oldfield, West Virginia; Mrs. A J Wilson, Moorefield, West Virginia, and Mrs. Blanche Hawes, Keysar, West Virginia. Funeral services Tuesday at 2:00 at the Four Square Gospel church, Gettysburg, with the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Myers and Foster Group officiating. Interment in Mummasburg cemetery.
