Mildred Palat Seiler was born on February 10, 1922, near Needville, Texas to Joseph Palat and Frances Syptak Palat. She passed away on January 18, 2011 at the age of 88, in the Austin home of her son, Larry. Mildred graduated with honors from Richmond High School. She then graduated from Massey Business College in Houston. In March 1941 she married Leroy Seiler and they began their life journey together. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary together in 2009 two days before Leroy passed away. She was always available and was an extraordinary volunteer in support of scouting, hospital service and PTA. She and Leroy explored their passion of travel by visiting 3 countries and all 50 states. They lived in Lake Jackson until Leroy retired in 1976 when they moved to Colorado. They spent several years living there within view of the magnificent San Juan mountain range, which she dearly loved. Thirty years ago they moved back to Texas and built their home near Blanco, Texas where they shared their home and hospitality with family and friends from all over the world. Mildred loved needle work and crafts and collecting glassware. She was preceded in death by her son, Leslie Eugene Seiler; her husband, Leroy Albert Seiler; her brothers, Bill Palat, Ed Palat, Alvin Palat and Ernest Palat. Mildred is survived by her son, Larry Seiler and wife, Terri of Austin, three grandchildren, Leslie Carl Seiler and wife, Kelly, of Denton, Kaylene Thomas and husband, Robert of Kingwood, and Cynthia Swendner and husband, Marc of Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Coleen, and Delaney Thomas of Kingwood, Aubrey Peters and Julia Seiler of Denton, and Rowan and Caelyn Swendner of Austin, her sister, Edna Tribble of Brazoria; and her dear friend, Monica Irene Davis of Austin; along with other relatives and friends.
