Bio

Ernest Palat, 75, was born April 30, 1924 in Fort Bend County, Texas, and passed away at Brazosport Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Ron Boullion officiating. Family will receive friends a the chapel from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 1999. Graveside services will be held after the chapel service at the Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, Texas. Ernest retired from Dow Chemical after 34 years with the air conditioning/refrigeration department, was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of VFW Post #4341. Ernest loved the outdoors and fishing with his family. Ernest is survived by his beloved wife Jessie L. Palat of Freeport, four sons: William H. Palat & wife Linda of Jones Creek, Glenn R. Palat of Clute, Jimmy L. Palat & wife Sue of Lake Jackson, and Richard L. Palat & wife Ruth of West Columbia. He is also survived by two brothers; A.G. "Slim" Palat of Freeport and Edward A. Palat of Clute, and two sisters Mildred Seiler and husband Leroy of Blanco, Texas and Edna L. Tribble of Brazoria, and four special grandchildren Stephanie L. Palat, Richard "R.J." L. Palat, Jr., Lindsey E. Palat, and Jacob L. Palat. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Francis Palat, one brother William Henry Palat, and one nephew Leslie E. Seilter. Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Hurt, Jason Ryan, Dennis Heinroth, Doug Parker, Clay Hurt and Charles Lambert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Bass, Wade Humphrey, Bill Kristof, Gene Wollam, Herb Stewart, Ronnie Tribble, Larry Seiler, Ray Cook and Jerry Jones. Funeral services by Lakewood Funeral Chapel. The Facts Monday, November 29, 1999 - According to information from my father, Ernest Palat, and my aunts, Mildred B. Seiler and Edna L. Tribble, they had two sisters that died. The first one between Alvin and Edward was still born and given no name. The second on was born between Edward and William and live one week. Her name was Angelina. - note by Richard L. Palat Sr.
