STEPHENS, Alfred Bell, age 91, late of Umatilla, Ore. Father of Alfred J. Stephens, New Orleans, La.; Francis J. Stephens, Pilot Rock, Mrs. Kathryn Sherlock, Pendleton, Mrs. Ann DeHart, Portland; grandfather of eight; great grandfather of 16. Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 A.M. at Foldoms' Funeral Chapel under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge of Umatilla. Interment at Olney Cemetery. (East Oregonian, Pendleton, Umatilla Co., Oregon, 17 Sep 1963, pg 4) RITES SLATED ON THURSDAY - Funeral services for Alfred Bell Stephens, 91, who died in the Umatilla Hospital Sunday, will be Thursday. Notice appears on page 4 today. Mr. Stephens, born Oct. 1, 1872 in Seward County, Neb., had lived in Umatilla 69 years. Son of A. B. & Mary J. Stephens, pioneers of this community, he was the sixth of a family of 12 and the last remaining child. His wife died three years ago. Survivors are sons, Alfred J., New Orleans, La., and Francis J., Pilot Rock; daughters, Kathryn Sherlock, Pendleton, and Ann DeHart, Portland; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
