MRS. NEWCOMB, 67 DIES IN HOSPITAL - Mrs. Cora Annette Newcomb, 67, died Sunday in St. Anthony's hospital. All her children were at her bedside as well as granchildren, and other relatives. Mrs. Newcomb had been an invalid for five years and bedfast for a month. She was born in Seward County, Nebraska, Dec 25, 1873. She was the seventh child of the former Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Stephens of this city. She moved from Nebraska to Colorado the fall of 1891. On May 22, 1892, she married Harley John Newcomb at Buena Vista, Colo. Five children were born to them as follows: Mrs. Wilhelmina Hart of Pendleton; Harley Alfred Newcomb of Milwaukee; Minnie May Kissinger who died in 1921; John Pratt Newcomb, who died in 1909; Mrs. Hope Warren, Spokane. Mr. & Mrs. Newcomb moved from Colorado to Pendleton in 1899. The last two children were born in Oregon. They have lived in their present home at 1312 S. E. Court avenue for 20 years. Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her widower, Harley John Newcomb, her children and the grandchildren, Mrs. K. R. Burrill of Yakima, Harry Lee Kissinger of Pilot Rock, Harold A. Lincoln of Hamilton Field, Calif; Mrs. C. C. Stull of Nesqually, Wash; Harley Alfred Newcomb of Fort Lewis; Evelyn, Harvey and Ethel Marie Newcomb of Milwaukee, Elmer Randolph Warren and Hope Joy Warrewn of Spokane. One great grandson, Stephen Burrill, survives as do the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. J. C. Donelson, Broken Bow, Nebr; Mrs. Jennie I Smith and Mrs. Hannah Robinson of Portland; A. B. Stephens, of Umatilla; H. I. Stephens, of Pilot Rock, J. A. Stephens of Portland, L. A. and O. O. Stephens of this city and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Newcomb was a member of the Baptist church. She was also a member of the Ladies of the G.A.R. The Pioneer club and the Rebekah lodge. She has an honorary membership in the Degree of Honor. She had a host of friends, was a good neighbor and always helped the needy. The funeral will be held in the Baptist church tomorrow, 1:30 p.m. Burial services will be at Masonic Cemetery, LaGrande.
