~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OBITUARY: Robert Griffin STRATFORD----Funeral services for Robert O'Neal (Sug) Griffin, a resident of Stratford, Ok. will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Stratford High School auditorium. The Rev. Lewis Perry will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Dan Palesano. Burial follows in McGee Cemetery. Mr. Griffin died Wednesday April 14, 1999 at Ada. He was 72. He was born April 28, 1926, in Battiest to Robert and Minnie Etta Hogan Griffin He retired after 35 years as a state forest ranger. He lived at Battiest most of his life and moved to Stratford nine years ago. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Stratford Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, the Eastern Star, and a Veteran of World War 11. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. He and Verna Elizabeth Martin were married May 17, 1947 at DeQueen, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Verna Griffin, Stratford; a daughter, Floetta Gillespie, Wilburton; two sons, Rick Griffin, Stratford, and Danny Griffin, Tuttle; two brothers, Bill Griffin, ElReno, and Leroy Griffin, Ridgecraest, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Bearers are Lyndon Clemmons, Bill Medlock, Leon Morris, Marcus Griffin. Chuck Devereaux and J.T. Freeman. Honorary bearers are Darrel Bradley, Herb Benge, Tom Smith, Mike McConnell, Pete Littlepage and Carl Washman. Pickard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
