Bio
John E. Eppars of Dike Passes; Rites Saturday John E. Eppars of Dike died Friday at 430am in Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Thanksgiving Day. He was 80 years old. Funeral Rites will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Holiness Church at Dike. Interment will be in Conner Cemetery. Rev Charlie Taylor will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev Travis Smith. The body will remain at Murray's Funeral Home until time for the funeral. Born April 17, 1874, in St Louis, MO, Mr Eppars was brought to Delta County as a small child by his paretns, Mr and Mrs John Eppers. He married Fannie Avance in Charleston, Delta County, to which four children were born. Following his wife's death Mr Eppars moved to Hopkins County and later married Martha Lucenda Thomason who survives. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on Nov 28 1954. A retired farmer, he was quite active until recently. He went deer hunting this fall. Besides his wife he is surved by ten children, Alison Eppars of West, Mrs Ruby Orren of Mt Vernon, Mrs Ruth Neal, of Chickasha, OK; Mrs Reba Bell of Commerce; Buck Eppars of Dallas; Mrs Neva Sue Chapman of Ft Worth; Mrs Lizzie Sandifeer, Odus Eppars, Mrs Bozelle Davidson and Mrs. Oleta Jones of Dike. Also surving are two step-children; Mrs Georgie Emmons of Sulphur SPrings and Ezra Storey of Dallas; and a Brother, Robert Eppers of Dike. Two children preceded Mr Eppars in Death. Grandsons will act as pallbearers. They are Duane Jones, Gaylon Eppars, Carlton Eppars, L.T. Sandifer, Louis L. Eppars and Glenn Pierce.
