Bio

Josephine Catherine Haller was born February 26, 1879 to Karl and Elizabeth Hess Haller in Kankakee, Illinois. She died December 7, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the home of her youngest daughter Gertrude. She is buried in College View Cemetery which is a Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery in Lincoln. In March of 1885 she came to Webster County, Nebraska, with her parents, and they lived in a sod house. Josephine married Albert Holverson on September 18, 1897 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. Albert and Josephine lived on a farm, later lived in Red Cloud, and operated a truck line from Red Cloud to Hastings, Nebraska. According to the births of their children, their Nebraska addresses in 1898 & 1900 were Blue Hill; in 1902, Holstein; in 1906, Franklin; in 1915, Red Cloud. Josephine was united with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Red Cloud in 1915. In 1916, she and her husband Albert participated in the building of the present Red Cloud Adventist Church. Josephine and Albert were divorced in 1926. Josephine married John S. Bagg on April 8, 1929. In 1932 Josephine moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she was an industrious worker in the Dorcas Society and the "Signs" wrapping group at the College View Church. Grandma Bagg as she was affectionately known, was truly a "Mother in Israel" to the many young people of the college who found a "home away from home" with her. She was a faithful member of her church doing as Peter said of Dorcas, "She did what she could. Her hopes and her ideals live on in the lives of her loved ones." (Josephine and John were divorced in 1948.) Four children preceded Josephine in death ~ Herman in 1901, Baby Son in 1902, twin Lillian in 1906, and Raymond in 1909. Two daughters survive their mother, twin Violet Morford and Gertrude Burden.
