Haller was born on September 1, 1871 at Urbana, Illinois and died July 12, 1960 at the home of his son, Charles, in Culbertson at the age of 88 years. Mr. Haller spent most of his childhood on farm in Illinois and Nebraska. At the age of 21 he moved to West Union, Nebraska to work in the West Union Roller Mills.
