Bio

Married: 11 SEP 1911 in Lindsay, Cooke County, Texas They had 7 children: Gertrude M., Rosalee, Sally, Lee Roy, John H., Fred and Leonard Schmitz. ```````````````` note from family: John William Schmitz - the second son was born in Carroll, Iowa on August 19, 1886. He is the oldest child living today. On September 11, 1911, in Lindsay, John married Mary Bezner. They started their married life on a farm south of Lindsay, and eventually became the parents of four sons and four daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 14 great-granchildren. All the children survive today. For a short time they lived in Austin and Dallas, Texas where Uncle John engaged in carpenter work. In 1955, he was awarded the distinction of the "Man of the Year" for his contribution and zealous work in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Dallas. Aunt Mary died October 4, 1963, in Dallas and is buried in Lindsay Cemetery. Today Uncle John is a spry 91 years young and living alone in Muenster. He enjoys dominoes and cards and visiting his children and many friends.
