Bio

Father: Wilhelm Joseph Schmitz Mother: Anna 'Catherine' Neu Married: 12 FEB 1912 to Louise Pauline Loerwald. They had 7 children. ````````````` notes from family: The third son, Theodore, was born March 20, 1890 in Halbur, Iowa. On February 12, 1912, he married Pauline Loerwald this being the 19th wedding anniversary of his parents. They, too followed in the steps of his parents engaging in farming. At the age of 33 years, on Feb. 6, 1926, after a very short illness, his beloved wife, Pauline, died, leaving seven small children. It was a hard time for Uncle Tater, but with the help of his brothers and sisters, he was able to keep his family intact, until he was blessed with the help of his niece, Thersa Loerwald, who became like a second mother to them. Five of the children survive today. Uncle Tater and Aunt Pauline had 32 grandchildren and 49 great- grandchildren. Uncle Tater retired from farming in 1962 and bought a house in Lindsay, where he spent the last years of his life in leisure. He died on July 4, 1973, and is resting next to his beloved Pauline in the Lindsay Cemetery. For having a third grade education, he was an exceptionally wise and intelligent man. He enjoyed farming, carpentry, fishing, making wine and especially his dominoes, beer and his plug of "Day's Work" chewing tobacco. As of June 13, 2015 he had: 29 Grandchildren 87 Great-Grandchildren 150 Great-Great-Grandchildren 2 Great-Great-Great grandchildren
