Bio

Henry Franklin "Frank" McNelly was the only child of Cornelius (Stephen?) McNelly and Adella Eveline Newsom. His father was born in Kentucky and died in possibly Illinois. His mother was born in Kentucky. On their marriage license, Cornelius' surname was written McNeely and this name, Cornelius McNeely was found later in the Illinois Census. However, in the 1860 Kentucky, Pollard Tan Yards Census, both Henry Franklin and his mother, Eveline, said their last name was McNelly. Cornelius left his wife and small son with no further contact. Henry Franklin was a farmer most of his life, but in later years, he became a preacher. He and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth McAnear McNelly, were living with their daughter and her husband, Mary Etta McNelly and William Marion Windland in Iraan, Pecos County, Texas.
