Mrs. Jess Nixon Passes Away Funeral for Mrs. Jess E. Nixon, 80 was held at 10:00 Wednesday morning at the First Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Marion E. Kirchner, officiating. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery under direction of Godfrey Funeral Home. Mrs. Nixon passed away at 8:15 p.m., Monday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital, Abilene, froma heart attack. She had been ill five weeks, and seriously ill five days prior to her death. Martha Adella McNelly was born September 6, 1881, in Montague County, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. H.F. McNelly. Her father was a Baptist minister. The lfamily moved to Calahan County when she was a baby, and she was reared there. She was married to Tom Pool in 1896, two children being born to this union. They were Jewel Pool and Harmon Pool. In 1918 she was married to Jess E. Nixon, and had resided in Albany since. Three sons were born to this marriage: Howard, Clarence and Robert Nixon. Mrs. Nison had been a member of the Baptist Church for 70 years. Transcribed from the Albany News, July 26, 1962.
