Bio
1st married Louise T. Schorn on 26 Nov 1924 at Tours, McLennan Co., Texas. Louise died on 22 Dec 1945. 2nd married Olga (Winkler) Hlavenka on 02 Mar 1959. Olga's first husband, William Hlavenka, had died on 26 Jan 1937. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anton B. Straten, 79, of West died Friday morning in West Rest Haven. Mass of the Chrisitan Burial was celebrated at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, Rev. Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Martin's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 5 p.m. Saturday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mr. Straten was born in Tours and lived there most of his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. He also was a 50-year member of KJT Society of Tours and the Knights of Columbus Council 2305 of West. Survivors include his wife, Olga Straten; five daughters, Mrs. George (Mary Ann) Kubacak and Mrs. Frank (Irene) Glomb, both of West, Mrs. Howard (Willie Mae) Mears of San Pueblo, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Louise) Podsednik and Mrs. Johnny (Evelyn) Gerik, both of Arlington; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Roessler of Westphalia and Mrs. Frank (Mary) Weinberger of Dallas; one stepson, Bill Hlavenka of Waco; one step-daughter, Mrs. Louis (Eleanor) Mynarcik of West; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were grandsons: Virgil Kubacak, David Glomb, Stephen Podsednik, Calvin Gerik, Bill Hlavenka, Jr., and Louis Mynarcik.
