Tours News - The sudden death of a prominent and prosperous farmer which occured Sunday afternoon at about 1:30, April 1st was a shock not only to the family but to the whole community. Mr. Stratton attended the services at church the same morning and upon arriving home took dinner with his family then with his two sons went to another farm of his about a mile from his home to look after a sick cow. After giving attention to the cow he was suddenly stricken with heart trouble, falling over without a whisper, dying instantly. He was put in the car and hurried home where medical attention was given him, but all in vain. He was 58 years and three months old. He was born in Germany, coming to this state several years ago. Mr. Stratten was a resident of this community for several years, owning several acres of nice land. Besides his wife he is survived by eleven children, three sons and eight daughters, three of whom are married. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Catholic church and afterwards laid to rest in the Tours cemetery, Rev. Precker officiating. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends which showed in what esteem he was held. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. Mr. John Roessler, Mrs. Martin Roessler, son and daughter, all of Oenaville, Texas, came down to attend the funeral of Mr. Stratten, Mrs. John Roessler being a daughter of Mr. Stratten.
