Robert "Bob" Foit, age 71, of West, passed away Wednesday morning, September 14, 2005 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at West Brethren Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Bob was born in West, Texas, to the late Joseph and Carrie (Horak) Foit. He attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1952. He then entered the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Upon his return he continued his education by receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in Arlington. While working as a civil engineer for Shell Oil Company he lived in Iran and Saigon, Vietnam. He then became a certified plant engineer for Boeing International serving in Saudi Arabia for several years. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he worked for Boeing Corporate Office in Irving, Texas for many years. Bob enjoyed studying nature, genealogy, and family history. He also was an avid bird watcher and traveled all over the world. Bob was a lifetime member of the West Brethren Church. He was also a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54 and V.F.W. Post No. 4819. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joe R. Foit and William Foit; and sisters, Lillian Fojt and Helen Kudelka. Survivors include sisters, Polly Barton and Anna Ruth Lovecky, both of West, and Dorothy Schovajsa, of Inez; and sister-in-law, Doris Foit, of West; a cousin and close friend, Virgil Owen; many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; and several other relatives.
