ELBERTA, Ala. – Bill Garrett, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Bay View Chapel in Foley, Ala. Burial will be in Lay Cemetery in Elberta, Ala., with full military honors. Survivors include one daughter, Genea Garrett of Elberta, Ala.; one sister, Altha Mitchell of Abilene and three grandchildren. BJ (Billy James) was the 9th child (of 13) born to Ben and Lizzie Garrett in Hopkins County, Texas. He was a disabled World War II Veteran, US Marine Corps. In 1946 he married Kathleen "Kathye" Culpepper of Hollis, Oklahoma. They had one daughter, Ragenea Kaye. Bill was one of thirteen children born to Ben and Lizzie.
