LADDIE PATEK Lavaca County Tribune, Tues., 12 Mar 1963 Laddie Patek, Well Known Musician, Dies Laddie Patek, 61 well known member of the well-known Patek orchestra of Shiner, died Saturday in an Eagle Lake hospital. Mr. Patek was on his way home with the orchestra from Houston where they had played for a dance Thursday night, March 7th. At Eagle Lake he became seriously ill and the orchestra stopped to place him in the Eagle Lake Hospital where he remained until his death Saturday, March 9th. According to word received, Mr. Patek had been under a doctor's care for some time but continued the work he loved so much, playing with this famous orchestra which was organized years ago by his late father. Funeral services were held in Shiner Monday morning March 11th at St. Cyril and Methodius Church and burial was in Shiner Catholic Cemetery, Reverend J. J. Hanacek officiating. Laddie Patek was the father of Miss Gussie Patek a nurse at Renger Memorial Hospital in Hallettsville. His wife and several children survive. The family home was at Old Sweet Home in Lavaca County about half way between Sweet Home and Shiner.
