Victoria Advocate, 7 Oct 1981, page 10A Charles Patek Sr. SHINER Charles Patek Sr., 83, of Shiner, died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday in a local hospital after a short illness. He was born on Sept. 12, 1898, in Lavaca County near Shiner and was a member of the Patek Orchestra, the KJT Society of Shiner, and the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at the Shiner Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday. A rosary will be recited at the Buffington Funeral Home chapel in Shiner at 7 p.m. Wednesday by the KJT Society and at 8 p.m. by the parish. Burial will be in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Patek of Shiner; two daughters, Mrs. Den [Ben] G. Kocian and Mrs. Ben Matula, both of Shiner; five sons, Victor and Charles Jr., both of Shiner, and August, Rudy and Dennis, all of Houston; a brother, Joseph Patek Sr. of Shiner; 49 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
