YOAKUM: John W. “Johnnie” Patek, passed away from this earthly life to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, January 26th, at the age of 88, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born November 28, 1929 in Old Sweet Home to Laddie and Augustina (Drabek) Patek Sr. John dedicated his life to Christ, and taught by example, God’s love. Even through his health struggles, his faith never failed. He trusted in God to provide what he needed for this difficult journey. He always said “do the best you can with what you have…Because what you have is a gift from God…and anything from God is enough.” Faith, family and service to others were his priorities. John was a man of few words with a big heart. John found great joy in the simplicity of life on the family farm, sharing a tractor ride with his grandchildren, plowing the garden, feeding the cows and listening to polka music. He was devoted to his wife of over 63 years. He raised his children to share his Catholic faith and small town values. John and his wife made sure all of his children were provided with the best academic opportunities. He owned and operated Anders Auto Supplies over 60 years with great pride. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving as an original Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and on the Parish Council. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and KJT. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Myron Lee Patek; sisters, Mary Smith and Agnes Schlenker; brother, Edward Patek. Rosary 7 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum. Pallbearers are his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters. John will be greatly missed. Jesus, we trust in you. Spanem Bohem. Published by the Victoria Advocate, January 28, 2018
