Bio

Frank F. Urbanovsky, Pioneer Citizen, Dies in Austin, Tues. Frank F. Urbanovsky, a resident of this community for 66 years, died in an Austin Hospital at 11:30 o'clock Tuesday night, October 11. Mr. Urbanovsky had been moved to an Austin Hospital recently after efforts to improve his nervous condition had failed. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning by the Rev. E.J. Polcak and the Rev. Lad Klimicek. The interment was at the Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Urbanovsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Urbanovsky, was born on December 23, 1877 in West on the same site where now stands the large, two-story Brown home. West at that time was known as Bold Spring. When Mr. Urbanovsky was only a few months old, his mother died. As was the custom during those days, one of the neighbors, Mrs. Otillie Uptmor, volunteered to take care of little Frank until a later period when arrangements could be made to care for him. He lived with her for two years before his father could take him back into the family. After finishing at the Catholic School at Martinsville (Tours), he helped his father with the chores around the old farm until he married Miss Agnes Sykora on September 26, 1899, when he established himself on a farm of his own. He moved to the city of West just recently. Mr. Urbanovsky was a member of a large family. He had five brothers, Vince, John, August, Joe and Frank; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bezdek, and Mrs. Ludmila Pustejovsky; and one step-brother and one step-sister, Mr. Andrew Janek and Mrs. John A. Koemel. Mr. Urbanovsky is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Urbanovsky; his two sons, J.A. of Eddy, Texas, and Ernest, who is serving overseas with the 36th Dividion; four daughters, Mrs. Albert Kolar of Mt. Calm, Mrs. John W. Dvoracek of Penelope, Miss Albina Urbanovsky of West, and Mrs. George Milberger of Dallas; one brother, John Urbanovsky of West; one step-sister, Mrs. J.A. Komel of West; and five grandchildren. Acting pallbearers were Rud. Stanislav, Louis Kramer, Louis Dvoracek, A.J. Weinberger, Frank Holacka, Jr., and Edward A. Deiterman. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Knights of Columbus Lodge of West. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 54, No. 21, Edition 1, Friday, October 15, 1943, page 1, cont'd page 8.
