John W. Petter Funeral In Abbott Today Funeral services for John W. Petter, 81-year old retired Abbott farmer, will be conducted this morning, Friday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Abbott at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Petter passed away in a Hillsboro hospital Wednesday following a two-week illness. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Rosary was recited Thursday evening at Aderhold Chapel. Born on January 12, 1873, in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Petter came to the United States when he was 18 years old. He lived in Lavaca, Fayette and McLennan Counties before settling with his family 6 miles west of Abbott near the Vaughan community in 1915. His wife, the former Marie Kubala, preceded him in death. They had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary several years before her death on January 22, 1953. Mr. Petter was a member of the Abbott KJT Lodge. Survivors are five sons, Joseph and Victor of Abbott, Albin and Jerry of West, John Petter of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Julia Bajer of West, Mrs. Lillian Cepak of Abbott, Mrs. Henrietta Svacina of Abbott; two brothers, Frank Petter of West and Martin Petter of Elk; a sister, Mrs. Jane Halamik of West; 33 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
