James J. Pavlicek, Sr., age 75 of West, passed away Thursday evening, December 25, 1997 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 2 p.m. December 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:15 p.m. December 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery conducted by VFW Post No. 4819. Mr. Pavlicek was born July 6, 1922, in West, the son of Joe and Annie Pavlicek. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He married Georgia Seith on October 15, 1946, in West. He worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for 25 years until he retired in 1977. He was also a farmer and a sales representative and a member of Linden Hall SPJST Lodge No. 66 in Elm Mott. He was a member of VFW Post No. 4819 and a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, both in West. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Pavlicek of West; one son, James Pavlicek, Jr. and wife Debbie, of West; two daughters, Dorothy Warren and husband Bill, of West and Margaret Nors and husband Stephen, of Chalk Bluff; two brothers, Jodie Pavlicek of West and Edward Pavlicek of San Antonio; two sisters, Bessie Pustejovsky of Abbott and Frances Ender of Chilton; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Carl Ender, Emil Pustejovsky, Jr., Harry Dudik, Eugene Dudik, Gregory Pavlicek and Robert Seith. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. December 27 at the funeral home.
