Rudolph Nemecek, West businessman, died here last Thursday afternoon*.... ...The entire citizenship of this city was deeply shocked by the tragedy, and extreme excitement reigned. ...Mr. Nemecek was a pioneer business man of this city. Born in Europe, he came to the United States in 1893 and to West in 1895. During the past thirty-five years he had been a member of the Nemecek Meat Market firm. Funeral services for Mr. Nemecek were held at the residence at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3rd, Monsignor Jos. Pelnar in charge, assisted by Rev. E.J. Polcak. Interment was at the Catholic Cemetery near West. Pallbearers were: C.R. Westmoreland, Ramon Ray, J.F. Urbanovsky, J.R. Cuff, Vinc Sula, Emil Jerabek, P.S. Skrabanek and Rud. Marak. A very large number of friends from West and surrounding territory attended the rites, and the funeral cortege was one of the longest ever seen here. All business houses of this city closed during the funeral hour. Survivors are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Archer of West, Mrs. J.E. Williams of Refugio, Misses Hattie and Georgia Nemecek of West; two sons, Fred of Austin, and Joe of West; two brothers, Ernest Nemecek and A.R. Nemecek of West; two sisters, Mrs. M.J. Mazanec of West, and Mrs. J.M. Mazanec of St. Charles, Missouri. The entire citizenship of West and surrounding territory deeply sympathize with the survivors in their time of sorrow.
